Vasseur praises Antonelli: “He gave the right response”

On lap 53, Antonelli attempted an attack down the inside of the banked Turn 3, and his car skidded, hitting Leclerc's side, causing the Ferrari driver to spin and hit the barriers. Race officials subsequently handed Antonelli a 10-second penalty.

Regarding the young driver who stopped by the Ferrari garage to apologize after Leclerc's retirement, Vasseur said, "Yes, Charles came to me and apologized because he wasn't there. I appreciated that gesture. He can make mistakes, overtaking at Zandvoort isn't easy, you have to take risks. He took risks, made mistakes, and apologized. That was the right reaction. For me, this is a racing matter."

Antonelli, in his post-race statement, said, "Our pace was actually good, we were coming to the front. That was the closest I could get, and Charles' tires were colder. I made an attack, but it was too risky. When I saw he was going to come to the front again, I tried to give up, but it wasn't enough."

Ferrari will now put its double retirement in the Netherlands behind it and focus on its home Grand Prix at Monza from September 5-7.
